Classic Navy Blue Kitchen
The desire for a major refresh and a more functional kitchen is what led these clients to McCarthy Design Studio. A classic and clean style with staying power, as well as a balance of fresh and airy, warm and inviting, was the aesthetic goal.​
The design process began by addressing functional challenges. The lack of set down space to one side of the range, for example, made cooking more difficult. Additionally, the location of the range created a less than ideal sightline when entering the home. These issues informed the redesign and layout changes.
The new layout achieved exceptional functionality and created an outdoor focal point by opening the view to the beautifully treed backyard. In addition to maximizing natural light, a new lighting plan added more functional lighting as well as statement and ambient lighting for aesthetic appeal.
Finally, adding a sophisticated infusion of colour with the client’s enduring love of navy, coupled with hints of warmth, a fresh and inviting space was created.​
